Middle School 6-8
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! I am really excited for this school year and have many exciting things planned for this year. Below you will find information about the classes being offered this year in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.
Overview of Subjects
Religion: An overview of the Bible and the books and what the Christian church teaches. An integral part of Religion class is memory work. All memory work in due on each Thursday of the week and can be said anytime before Thursday. Each restart of memory work will result in a 10% loss of grade. During Religion time we will also briefly study a few Latin words that have to do with Christianity.
Algebra: The 6th, 7th and 8th grade will be divided into three groups for Algebra. The groups are: Saxon Course 2, Saxon Course 3, and Saxon Algebra 1.
Language Arts: This section is composed of reading Literature, novels, studying the English language, spelling, rhetoric, and formal writing.
U.S. History 6th and 7th grade is studying the settlement of the Americas through the Civil War. The 8th grade is studying U.S. History from the Civil War to the present era.
Current Events: In this class current issues will be discussed and researched.
MN History: In this class students will learn about the history and peoples of Minnesota.
Physical Science: The 6th – 8th grade class will be studying atoms, molecules, chemistry, and physical science.
Specials are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30-3:00

Mr. Strickland has experience teaching a variety of subjects. His Major was Social Studies specifically American History. His true love is Science and he loves to see the wonder in the eyes of students when they learn something new. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, read, fish, and putter around in his garage.
